I would say the majority of Aussies still hang washing on the line even though we all have dryers that chew money and energy. We have so much dry and sometimes very hot weather and at least here in the west a lot of strong winds so it's possible to hang out a weekly wash and it costs nothing! My friend Bev tells me that, in the US, it is considered to be a leedle bit red neck to hang one's laundry out to dry. Even the best people do it here.
