My mother used to buy 300 baby chicks every Spring. They came in a box! We had what she called a "brooder house", which had a large, round hood that was warmed, and all the little baby chicks snuggled under it. Poor babies. They never knew their mother...only the warm metal hood! Beautiful art, Gayle, and thanks for the memory!

This reminded me of the 300 baby chicks my mother used to buy every Spring. They came in a box! She had a small house with a warming hood in the center called the "brooder house", and the baby chicks snuggled there until they were bigger. Poor things. They never knew their mother, only the warm metal hood! I love your art. Thanks for the memories!
(...and I don't know what's up with the double entries. They drive me nuts too, but I don't know how to avoid them!)

I love how the mother hen appears to be dashing hither and thither tending to her chicks. Bravo.

I love this one, Gayle. The lighting is delicious. The picture is so alive it looks as if its going to move outside the screen!
